Irakli Kobakhidze: Certain politicians from Georgia travel to the United States to be among the 220,000 people attending President Trump's inauguration, and that is their choice

"President Trump's inauguration is attended by 220,000 people. Political leaders do not participate in the inauguration. Certain politicians from Georgia are traveling to the United States to be among the 220,000 attendees and take part in this event," said the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze.

He also noted that events like this may involve the invitation of individuals who have no official status.

"President Trump's inauguration is attended by 220,000 people, according to official data that has been published. Political leaders do not attend the inauguration. The attendees are voters and individuals, including some from different countries, but political leaders do not participate in such events because the inauguration of the U.S. President is essentially considered a national holiday and event. However, it is possible to invite individuals to such events who have no connection to any official status.

You are aware that certain politicians from Georgia are traveling to the United States to be among the 220,000 attendees and to participate in this event, and that is their choice.

Given that the President's inauguration has its protocol and does not involve the participation of foreign political leaders, we have made the corresponding decision. However, alongside this, we will do everything to ensure the establishment of a strategic partnership between Georgia and the United States from a clean slate. We are fully open to this, and the main thing is for the new administration to take the appropriate steps," Kobakhidze stated.
