Levan Bezhashvili: The New U.S. Administration rejects dictators, and Bidzina Ivanishvili is seen alongside Putin, North Korea, and Iran’s dictatorial regimes

"The most important thing is that no one from the Georgian government was present at Donald Trump’s inauguration. Today, the new U.S. administration does not see a person or partner from the Georgian government worthy of a handshake or an invitation to such a significant event," said Levan Bezhashvili, one of the leaders of the United National Movement, in an interview with journalists.

Bezhashvili emphasized that it is "good that the opposition strives to attend such major events."

"The most important thing is that no one from the Georgian government was represented at the inauguration. This highlights that the new U.S. administration does not see a person or partner in the Georgian government to shake hands with or invite to such an important event. That is the issue. The fact that opposition representatives, in any form, strive to attend such events and have received corresponding invitations is another matter and a positive one. Who attended the inauguration and where is of secondary importance," Bezhashvili said.

When asked whether there is alignment between Georgian Dream’s policies and Trump’s administration, Bezhashvili pointed to the statements regarding sanctions on Bidzina Ivanishvili.

"The answer to whether there is alignment between *Georgian Dream* and Trump’s policies lie in the statements made about Ivanishvili’s sanctions. The new administration also rejects dictators and dictatorial regimes. The fact that Bidzina Ivanishvili is seen alongside Putin, North Korea, and Iran’s dictatorial regimes is a key determinant of future relations between the U.S. and Georgia. Therefore, Ivanishvili must make the appropriate decisions, call for elections, and entrust the future of Georgia to its people," Bezhashvili stated.

He also dismissed discussions about the so-called “Deep State” as "unjustified."

"Any discussions regarding the 'Deep State' are unjustified because any government or politician should focus on conducting real politics. Thus, when Ivanishvili and *Georgian Dream* talk about the 'Deep State,' it sounds even more absurd, especially since they act against the interests of the Georgian people and promote Russian interests in the country. Today, the main problem in this country is not the 'Deep State,' but the realization of Russian imperialist ambitions," Bezhashvili concluded.
