"The United States' policy is expected to become more targeted and effective," wrote Lelo leader Badri Japaridze on Facebook in response to Donald Trump’s inauguration as President of the United States.
According to Japaridze, their meetings with congressmen and senators were promising, as it was repeatedly emphasized that "Donald Trump, upon assuming the presidency, will take effective measures against authoritarian and autocratic regimes."
"Donald Trump is now officially the 47th President of the United States. I believe an interesting stage begins not only for the United States but for the entire world.
The Trump administration is composed of outstanding professionals, politicians, and businesspeople. It is anticipated that U.S. policy will become more focused and effective.
Our meetings with congressmen and senators were encouraging because they repeatedly highlighted that Donald Trump would take strong actions against authoritarian and autocratic regimes right from the beginning of his presidency.
During the inauguration ceremony, Trump made some interesting remarks. One such focus was on the executive branch, which, according to Trump, will be staffed based on professionalism and qualifications.
In contrast to the United States, in Georgia, appointments in executive bodies are made based on loyalty to Bidzina Ivanishvili. It is evident that knowledge and qualifications are not priorities in Ivanishvili’s agenda.
It is essential to remember that supporting freedom fighters, including the Georgian people, is a priority for both Trump and the Republican Party’s administration.
Given Georgia’s geopolitical position and our history, this partnership is of great importance. Restoring strategic cooperation with the United States is vital for both Georgia and the U.S., as having a loyal partner like the Georgian people in the region is valuable for them.
I am confident that after new elections, the strategic partnership between Georgia and the United States will not only continue but also strengthen further.
We must continue to work and fight for the future of our country!" Japaridze wrote.
