Solidarity rally underway near Parliament in support of Mzia Amaglobeli

Another solidarity rally is underway at the back entrance of the Georgian Parliament in support of the founder of Batumelebi and Netgazeti, Mzia Amaglobeli.

Colleagues of Mzia Amaglobeli have gathered at the site, demanding her release.

Journalists have brought banners to the site with the inscriptions: “Freedom to the head of Netgazeti and Batumelebi”, “Freedom to the political prisoners of the Ivanishvili regime!”

They are chanting: “Freedom to Mzia”, “Freedom to the political prisoners”.

Police are mobilized at the site.

For information, the co-founder and director of Netgazeti and Batumelebi, Mzia Amaglobeli, was arrested in Batumi on January 11. The Batumi City Court sent her to pre-trial detention. Mzia Amaglobeli is charged under Article 353 of the Criminal Code, which refers to assault on a police officer. Mzia Amaglobeli slapped Batumi Police Chief Irakli Dgebuadze.
