The UK Ambassador on the question of Bidzina Ivanishvili's possible sanctions: We do not comment on sanctions in advance

"We do not comment on sanctions in advance. You are aware of what the United Kingdom has already done: it has announced sanctions against a certain number of officials concerning human rights violations," said the UK Ambassador to Georgia, Gareth Ward, to journalists when asked whether it is expected that the UK will impose sanctions on Bidzina Ivanishvili and what form those sanctions might take.

"The main thing is that we want to see the right to free protest and freedom of expression protected in Georgia. This is the purpose of the mentioned sanctions. I do not wish to comment on potential future sanctions," the ambassador noted.
