The cyberattack on public transport was carried out by Georgian hackers affiliated with the hacker group Anonymous. The hacker group Anonymous posted the relevant statement on its X page.
“Weeks ago, Anonymous declared cyberwar against the illegitimate, Russian-backed regime in Georgia after successfully infiltrating and hacking the websites of all Georgian government ministries. Today’s cyberattack on the Tbilisi public transport system, carried out by Georgian hackers affiliated with Anonymous, was a direct “message” to the corrupt government that rigged elections and established an authoritarian regime.
This is a warning to the oppressors: your crimes against democracy and your people will not go unanswered.
To the people of Georgia: Rise up, resist, and reclaim your freedom. You are not alone in this fight.
Long live Georgia,” reads the statement.
