The conclusion of the Monitoring Committee regarding the suspension of the mandate of the Georgian delegation in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will be known within 24 hours

The issue of recognizing the mandate of the Georgian parliamentary delegation in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has been challenged.

The Monitoring and Procedural Committees will deliberate on this issue. They are required to present their opinion within 24 hours, after which the matter will go to a vote.

It will be determined whether the recognition of the Georgian delegation’s mandate will be upheld during the session from January 27 to 31.

The recognition of the Georgian delegation’s mandate became contentious after the European People’s Party (EPP) raised the issue. The matter was supported by 30 members from five country delegations.

The issue of recognizing the mandate of the Georgian delegation was introduced by Swedish MP Boriana Öberg.

"The Georgian Parliament is a one-party parliament—only ‘Georgian Dream.’ The Ivanishvili regime is destroying the democratic order in Georgia. Therefore, on behalf of the European People's Party, I call for their mandate to be suspended," stated Boriana Öberg.
