"For the first time in history, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) did not recognize the credentials of the Georgian delegation and referred the matter to the Monitoring Committee. Ivanishvili's Russian regime is in international isolation, and this regime will not gain recognition," stated Tina Bokuchava, Chair of United National Movement.
According to her, regardless of the outcome, by questioning the delegation’s credentials, the strongest sanctioning mechanism available to PACE was activated today.
"Today, an unprecedented event occurred at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. For the first time in history, the credentials of the Georgian delegation were called into question. PACE did not recognize the credentials of the Georgian delegation and referred the matter to the Monitoring Committee. Such a situation has never happened with a Georgian delegation before, and there are precedents only with Russia and Azerbaijan. This confirms that Ivanishvili's Russian regime is in international isolation and will not gain European recognition. Whatever decision is made, the strongest sanctioning mechanism available to PACE was activated today, which is the questioning of credentials," said Tina Bokuchava.
