Brussels' accusations of trampling democracy are, of course, false and hypocritical. However, this is not surprising considering that they demand the release of Saakashvili, the creator of an authoritarian regime, from prison, - the Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, writes on social networks.

"I remind you that the agreement on the simplification of issuing visas on diplomatic passports for officials of the Saakashvili regime was signed in 2010.

This is the time when the following had already happened:

- The uninvestigated murders of Sandro Girgvliani, Buta Robakidze and Zurab Vazagashvili,

- The seizure of Rustavi 2 and Imedi TV from their owners, organized by Zurab Adeishvili. This is the wanted Adeishvili, whom officials in Brussels hosted last year in the very rooms where this decision was made today,

- the final establishment of a system of torture of prisoners in prison, which Brussels did not notice and which, later, the Strasbourg Court called systemic torture,

- the rigging of the 2008 presidential and parliamentary elections,

- the complete subjugation of business to the regime's racket,

- etc. and much more.

The creators of this flourishing autocracy (and not ordinary citizens) were then rewarded by Brussels with visa-free travel. Visa-free travel for citizens took another 7 years and the defeat of the regime by Georgian Dream.

Therefore, Brussels' accusations about trampling democracy are, of course, false and hypocritical. However, this is not surprising considering that they demand the release of Saakashvili, the creator of an authoritarian regime, from prison,” Papuashvili wrote on his Facebook page.

For information, the Council of the European Union has decided to suspend visa-free travel for Georgian diplomats and officials.
