Shalva Papuashvili: If there is no fair treatment of the Georgian state, there will be no participation of the Georgian Parliament in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe

According to the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, if there is no fair treatment of the Georgian state, the Georgian Parliament will not participate in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

This is how the Chairman of the Parliament responds to the decision of the Georgian Dream to cease its work in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

“If there is no fair treatment of the Georgian state, there will be no participation of the Georgian Parliament in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe!” - Papuashvili writes.

For information, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe calls on Georgia to hold new elections in the coming months, release political prisoners and continue its path towards European integration.

Out of 134 deputies, 114 voted in favor of the PACE resolution, 13 voted against, and 7 abstained.

After the adoption of the aforementioned resolution, Georgian Dream announced that it was ceasing its work in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

As Tea Tsulukiani explained when announcing the decision, "a number of reservations in the document are unacceptable, as they are unfair and groundless."
