Irakli Kobakhidze: Today, unfortunately, PACE is a much weaker structure than the European Parliament - non-participation in its work will not be a special loss

Today, unfortunately, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe is a much weaker structure than the European Parliament, - Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze said regarding the Georgian Dream decision to suspend its work in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

According to Kobakhidze, non-participation in the PACE work will not be a special loss.

“In reality, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has been losing its relevance, its function from year to year. It has been doing this on its own, and yesterday’s decision is a continuation of this. Today, unfortunately, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe is a much weaker structure than the European Parliament.

In such conditions, non-participation in the PACE work will not be a special loss for us, however, as for the Council of Europe, here, naturally, we remain a member of the Council of Europe and cooperation will continue in various formats. We are ready to cooperate with the Council of Europe, and we promised this to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe when he was sent to Georgia, and of course, we will work in various directions," Kobakhidze said.
