If the injustice, the wrong approach, and the problems in European bureaucracy that we see end, we will, of course, resume our work [in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe]. At this stage, we see no reason for it, – this is what Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said when discussing the decision of the ruling party to stop its work in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
According to the Prime Minister, "The situation in European bureaucracy is very difficult."
"You see how absurd the entries in the resolution, which was approved with 140 votes, were. Given that, in such an environment of injustice and problems, our work in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has lost its meaning. We made a decisive decision. If the injustice, the wrong approach, and the problems in European bureaucracy that we see are resolved, of course, we will resume our work. At this stage, we see no reason for it," the Prime Minister noted.
Additionally, in the Prime Minister's assessment, "It is a very tragic event that one of the faces of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe is this Ukrainian deputy, who directly called for Georgia to open a second front."
"This was the decision of the collective 'Goncharenkos.' In general, it is a very tragic event that one of the faces of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe is this Ukrainian deputy, who directly urged us to open a second front, which he failed to achieve, and now he is trying in every way to 'punish' us for it."
"Of course, our country is not a place to punish Goncharenko and the 'Goncharenkos.' When one of the faces of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe is Goncharenko, it is logical to see the contradictions in the Assembly's activities and in its resolutions. As for the opposition, they too are collective 'Goncharenkos,' there is no difference. They also wanted a second front and couldn't achieve it, which is why they are angry today, just like Goncharenko. This is the basis of all their actions; they are foreign agents just like Goncharenko. The only task they have is to carry out their patron's orders, and the patron is upset that we didn't open a second front," the Prime Minister stated.
For the record, "Georgian Dream" has stopped its work in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. This decision was made after the Assembly adopted a resolution concerning Georgia. As explained by Tea Tsulukiani, a member of "Georgian Dream," several provisions of the document are unacceptable as they are unjust and baseless.
