Salome Zurabishvili: It’s time for everyone to wake up - we are facing a task: either we give up the state, and therefore identity, past and future – or we stand up

It’s time for everyone to wake up. The issue is not about a political choice. We face a different task: either we give up the state, and therefore identity, past and future – or we stand up. Let’s free ourselves from propaganda, personal short-term interests, conformism and stand on the side of the country, choose the future! - the fifth president, Salome Zurabishvili, writes on Facebook.

In her post, Salome Zurabishvili draws attention, among other things, to the importance of Western grants.

“They say the so-called aid may be stopped, but what did the Georgian population get from these grants, except from corrupt NGOs? - This question, which is being spread through message boxes, reveals not only ignorance of its authors, but also ingratitude and thoughtlessness about the future.

We have already heard that you do not think about the freedom of the future generation and are preparing them for a dictatorship, but if you are interfering with their future education, health, security, and development for the sake of your current well-being, what is the answer to this?

No billion in the hands of Arab developers (even if it enters the country) will ensure the improvement of the level of education, the protection of people with disabilities, or the eradication of AIDS, hepatitis, nor the strengthening of the army, or the raising of police standards, or the development of agriculture…

I am surprised by such admiration of these self-proclaimed patriots for this new Arab fairy tale and miracle deal - when did we rejoice in the sale of lands (including protected areas) like this, the squandering of the country's interests like this, the massive importation of foreigners not as guests but as residents and tomorrow as owners (well, who else will live or already lives in these $ 2000/3000 km² skyscrapers of Batumi and Tbilisi?) When did we rejoice in the fall of the state, its transformation into spineless creatures?

It is time for everyone to wake up. The issue is not about political choices, this is not how they want to portray it - the continuation of yesterday's struggle between the National Movement and Dream. We face another task: either we give up the state, therefore, identity, past and future, our culture and our interests, and become the slaves of our neighbor and those whom this one master will let in, so that the Georgian spirit, energy and passion cannot be revived! Or we stand up. Let's move forward, free ourselves from propaganda, personal short-term interests, conformism and stand on the side of the country, choose the future! "- writes Salome Zurabishvili.
