"Every authoritarian regime operates this way. Belarusians have seen it in Belarus, and Russians have experienced it under Putin’s regime. The only solution is routine resistance through peaceful means," said Irakli Kupradze, one of the leaders of "Strong Georgia," during the ongoing protest near "Tbilisi Mall."
According to him, freedom of assembly and expression is precisely the peaceful method that Georgian citizens are using.
"I want to address those who believe that Bidzina Ivanishvili’s 'Russian regime' and its violence will not reach their doorstep. We also thought that this location was not a strategic facility, but yesterday, by decree of the illegitimate government, the Digomi entrance road was declared a so-called strategic facility. Citizens must understand that tomorrow or the next day, Rustaveli Avenue will be declared a strategic facility as well.
Yesterday, a civil activist and journalist were arrested in Kutaisi simply for sharing a post. This is an irreversible process. Every authoritarian system operates like this. Belarusians have seen it in Belarus, and Russians have witnessed it under Putin’s regime. The only solution is routine resistance through peaceful means. Freedom of assembly and expression is exactly the peaceful form of resistance that Georgian citizens are using," Kupradze stated.
