Two days ago, two masked individuals came and left obscene words. This is a red line—such actions are unacceptable, as children and family members live there," said Public Defender Levan Ioseliani, responding to the incident where several people came to his residence and left inscriptions on the entrance walls.

As he stated on Palitra News' program 360 Degrees, the most disappointing part of this story is that human rights organizations have not reacted to the incident.

According to him, he does not trust several human rights organizations because, in his view, they have a selective approach toward rights and people.

"This incident was expected, considering that for several months, certain television channels have been running a campaign to target me as the Public Defender for people who may not be aware of what I actually do to protect protesters. Some people may sincerely believe that I am failing in my duties or not doing what I should be doing. Unfortunately, two masked individuals came and left obscene words. I have always condemned such incidents, regardless of my opinion about the people involved. This is a red line—such actions are unacceptable, as children and family members live there.

The most disappointing part of this story is that, despite the existence of so many so-called human rights organizations in Georgia, none of them have spoken out about this. In similar cases, they would usually make a big deal out of it, and rightfully so. The same should have been done in this case. Such actions are unacceptable. This goes beyond morality, yet no one has spoken up.

If they are truly human rights defenders, they should have reacted. That is why I do not believe in their commitment to human rights. That is why I do not trust many of them—because they have a selective approach to rights and people. Given this, I am not surprised by their silence. My attitude toward them has never been biased, and it will not be in the future. Whenever something similar happens to someone else, I always react and make a statement.

If three TV channels start systematically portraying me as the ‘Public Defender of Georgian Dream’ and TV Pirveli shares this narrative, apparently approving of people showing up at my home, I want to ask their journalists: Are you satisfied that people came to my house and that my child had to witness this? No matter who it happens to, this incident is condemnable. What does my family have to do with this? If someone has a problem with me, they should write about me, not involve my family," said Levan Ioseliani.
