Giorgi Gakharia's political party has been repeatedly implicated in "pro-government" troll-bot activity – when the party has a nearly direct deputy of Adeshvili and a deputy of Vano Merabishvili, and points fingers at Mamuka Khazaradze, isn’t that wrong? This was stated by one of the leaders of "Strong Georgia," Irakli Kupradze, in the "Day's Newsroom" program on PalitraNews, in response to a banner published by the "Gakharia for Georgia" party.
According to Kupradze, Gakharia’s party needs to reconsider "where they are and what they stand for."
“These are Gakharia’s bloody banners. Gakharia’s political party has been repeatedly involved in 'pro-government' troll-bot activity, which we’ve seen multiple times. We’re not angry, we’re just stating the truth, directly in their face, that this is bad behavior, using the mildest way possible that TV airtime allows. In general, they need to rethink where they are and what they stand for.
Kaha Kemoklidze is a professional in his field, and personally, I have nothing against him. He shared all this. Before 2012, he was the deputy head of the Coordination Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Information Analytical Department. If someone is accusing him and saying he was a former member of the 'National Movement,' they should point to these bloody banners of Gakharia. Natia Mezvrishvili is an interesting 'case.' She was an intern at the Tbilisi City Court in 2006-2007, a prosecutor in Tbilisi from 2007 to 2009, and since 2009, a prosecutor in the Department of Oversight of Prosecutorial Activities at the Prosecutor's General Office. Can you imagine?! When the party has a former deputy of Adeshvili and a deputy of Vano Merabishvili, and points at Mamuka Khazaradze, isn’t that wrong?” – stated Irakli Kupradze.
Kupradze also spoke about the relationship between the parties "Gakharia for Georgia" and "Strong Georgia" and noted that "the desire for unity cannot be one-sided."
According to him, there has been "no response" to the opposition's calls for unity.
"We demand [opposition] unity, we propose it. We have no response. I’ll tell you directly, everyone is pulling their own cart somewhere, some towards a cliff, others trying to save the country, but we have no answers. In social networks, troll-botting alone won’t save this country, which some parties are engaging in. We have communication with some political parties, but for it to be effective, we need direct answers – yes or no. We need direct readiness and to move to action,” – Kupradze emphasized.
Additionally, Kupradze spoke about the termination of the parliamentary powers of opposition deputies and pointed out that "the argument that immunity is needed for someone’s struggle and that they should not give up this weapon is a lie."
"Yesterday, my immunity was revoked as a so-called parliament member. Tomorrow, they might arrest me because I am a participant in every protest and demonstration; I’ve never backed down. No one should dare, neither a civil activist, a politician, nor a journalist, to raise the issue and exchange my temporary detention for the national interests of this country. Do the people standing in the streets not realize that they may become victims of such repression?
[The termination of mandates] is the right decision. If I’m not mistaken, Gakharia’s team’s argument was that we needed immunity, and that’s why we didn’t give up our powers. To revoke immunity, 90 votes are needed in parliament, and the Georgian Dream has 89 deputies, so they are one vote short. However, to change the rules for revoking immunity, 76 votes are needed. Tomorrow, they will gather, pass a new law in an expedited manner, and claim that 76 votes are enough to revoke the powers. The rest is rhetoric, lies, and water that creates nothing. Instead of talking about lies, someone should kindly go, write a statement, and even if formally, not grant legitimacy to [parliament]. I have no doubt, I claim it, and I say it! The argument that immunity is needed for someone’s struggle, and that they shouldn’t give up this weapon, is a lie. This is factual evidence. They have done it before and will do it tomorrow to expel Gakharia from the Georgian Parliament. Therefore, there is no point in clinging to one foot... if you are in a struggle, you are in a struggle! When fighting an authoritarian regime, you must be ready for detention and imprisonment. We are ready for that. We have never run from any case,” – emphasized Kupradze.
Apart from this topic, Kupradze spoke about the media-related law that the "Georgian Dream" should initiate, and noted that this change "will severely harm the media."
“They will still try, either they’ll call it British or pick some good country. They don’t need a rational argument to promote propaganda. Propaganda depends on lies, deceit, and audacity. When Irakli Kobakhidze comes out, whose mimicking muscles don’t work on his face, and boldly lies. Confidently, audaciously, but blatantly lies. This law will severely harm the media, and they should take responsibility for it. We must raise two issues: the government must change, and for their anti-democratic, anti-national, anti-Georgian activities, they must be held accountable. One is political responsibility, and secondly, where possible, under the conditions of an objective court and independent prosecution, everyone should be held accountable,” – concluded Kupradze.
For reference, yesterday, after the 49 opposition MPs had their parliamentary mandates revoked, the leaders of the "Georgian Dream" published a banner featuring the leaders of the three opposition forces who overcame barriers, with the message, "49 Nazis are expelled from parliament." Later, the "Gakharia for Georgia" party published the same banner, adding images of "Georgian Dream" MPs, with the inscription, "89 Natsis remain."
