I think the best option for the rehabilitation of our democratic system would be for this political party [“Gakharia for Georgia”] and the last representatives of the “National Movement” to lose their mandates in the Georgian parliament – there is no place for any foreign agent in the Georgian parliament, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said to journalists when responding to a question about the fact that Gakharia’s party has not yet submitted a request to revoke its parliamentary mandates.
Kobakhidze also explained the options for members of Gakharia’s party to lose their parliamentary powers.
"Of course, there was no alternative to the revocation of mandates. As for Gakharia’s party, it has no place in the Georgian parliament. In general, there is no place for any foreign agents in the Georgian parliament. Only those who serve Georgia’s national interests should be represented. Let’s see what happens in the future. There are two theoretical options for them to lose their mandates, and that would only be welcomed. First: if they miss sessions during this session; second: if they submit a statement. I think the best option for the rehabilitation of our democratic system would be for this political party and the last representatives of the “National Movement” to lose their mandates in the Georgian parliament," said Kobakhidze.
Additionally, according to Kobakhidze, "the whole opposition is in a very difficult situation."
"I want to remind everyone that they put themselves in this situation. We also helped. We have a role in all this. But first and foremost, 'Deep State' destroyed the radical opposition with its own hands. The 'Deep State' wanted to bring the collective 'National Movement' back to power, but in reality, it destroyed the radical opposition with its own hands. As for the internal squabbles in the radical opposition, it is a manifestation of their weakness. As for Gakharia's party, they have created a coalition with the 'National Movement' until today, in four municipalities. In this case, their speculative banners have no real content. It is interesting that as soon as there was a little bullying from other factions of the 'National Movement,' they immediately backed down. Why? Because they are representatives of a unified, collective political force, which is called the collective 'National Movement.' The differences between them are only conditional. Of course, they don't express much sympathy for each other, but that is a personal matter. Politically, they are part of a unified force for one reason - they have a common patron, so they have no degree of independence," said Kobakhidze.
