The fifth President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, is meeting with representatives of opposition parties.
Representatives of the "United National Movement," the "For Georgia" party, the "Strong Georgia" coalition, and the "Coalition for Change" are already present at the meeting.
According to Badri Japaridze, one of the leaders of "Strong Georgia," the meeting is being held at the initiative of Salome Zurabishvili. He stated that joint efforts would continue.
"Unity, coordination, and the consolidation of society are crucial for saving the country when it is facing such a crisis. I cannot specify the exact topics we will discuss today because I don’t know—we were invited by the President. Last week, we had a very productive meeting with ambassadors of leading European countries, and I believe our joint work will continue," said Badri Japaridze.
The meeting is also attended by Eka Beselia, the leader of the "For Justice" party. According to her, this is a working meeting, and "there are accumulated issues that need to be discussed in this format."
"This is a working meeting. The parties expressed their wish to meet with the President. The topics for discussion are not hard to guess. I can provide more details after the meeting concludes. Since this is a closed-format working meeting, the diplomatic corps is not present. There are issues that need to be addressed in this setting.
Salome Zurabishvili's role is a complex and significant matter, but everyone here has their own individual approach. The key point is to align perspectives on ongoing issues and ensure good coordination around these perspectives and actions. It is not necessary for everyone to speak the same language. As for Salome Zurabishvili's role, the President has a strong coordinating and unifying function, just as she serves as a crucial figure in engaging with our country’s international partners. Therefore, this process cannot proceed without her involvement," stated Eka Beselia.
