"We are gathering to discuss how we should continue our coordination and break the line that concerns the legitimacy of the government so that they are completely isolated from the international democratic community. Additionally, we will discuss how our communication with international partners should be structured and how we can support and assist the ongoing protests in the country," said Dimitri Tskitishvili, a member of the party "Gakharia – For Georgia," before a meeting between opposition party representatives and Georgia's fifth president, Salome Zurabishvili.
According to him, although everyone acts based on their own internal political views, coordination on specific issues is necessary. However, he considers the idea of forming a united front, which implies the unification of opposition parties, to be unrealistic and inorganic.
"We are gathering to discuss how we should continue our coordination and break the line that concerns the legitimacy of the government so that they are completely isolated from the international democratic community. Additionally, we will discuss how our communication with international partners should be structured and how we can support and assist the ongoing protests in the country.
We all have our own intra-party views on various issues and, to some extent, act accordingly. However, in some cases, it is necessary to have communication, including with Salome Zurabishvili.
We all have our perspectives on current issues, such as how elections should be conducted and how we should continue the fight. Despite our individual views, we are ready to work within a unified format, as we did in the case of PACE. However, I do not think that forming a united front is the right, organic, or realistic approach," said Dimitri Tskitishvili.
