It is important to convey messages to the heads of various states at the Munich Security Conference about what is happening in Georgia today, where there is not only a dictatorship, a Russian regime, repression, but also the danger that Russia will win what it has never won and this will be the first such defeat for the West, Europe and the new US administration, - the fifth President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, stated after the meeting with representatives of civil society.
According to her, the platforms that are being created now are the first real political process and this is the process that everyone has been waiting for.
“I continued today's meetings, I met with two more different platforms. One thing was very important and interesting to me - it consisted of those people who are standing on the streets today, those activists and individual groups who were at the forefront of this, although we can't talk here about who was organizing it, it's all of them together, and I was also interested in their messages, their problems today in the face of the repressive machine and their readiness, which they expressed, to continue this struggle to the end, and I will bring this attitude to Munich, because the purpose of today's meetings was to know, after all the meetings, what are the main messages and the main problems that I should take to Munich.
Then we had a meeting with the NGO platform, where interesting issues were also raised from a geopolitical perspective, how important it is to bring them to Munich, especially since this is a security conference where high-level leaders from different states will be present, and to bring to them the main message of what is happening in Georgia today, where there is not only a dictatorship, a Russian regime, repression, but also a danger that Russia will actually win what it has never won and this will be the first such defeat for the West, Europe and the new American administration.
I am very satisfied with these meetings, with so many opinions and so many messages. It is a very serious responsibility, but at the same time I am very satisfied and this will continue tomorrow and the day after that, with the fact that these platforms that are being created are the first real political process and this coordination that has begun, we will now organize a little more and when I arrive, we will continue this process. This is the process that everyone has probably been waiting for and which it is our obligation to continue," Zurabishvili said.
