Irakli Kobakhidze: We have a very stable situation in Georgia, and we are firmly following the path of development. The country is ready for negotiations, and the decision to proceed depends on the European Union

We have a very stable situation in Georgia. The country is growing economically and in many other directions as well. We are firmly following the path of development for the country, – this is what Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said in response to a question from PhoenixTV journalist in the United Arab Emirates.

According to Kobakhidze, essentially, the country is ready for negotiations [on EU membership].

"Now, the decision depends on the European Union. We are ready for this. At the same time, we are firmly following the path of the country’s development and reforms. So, the country will achieve even greater progress," said Irakli Kobakhidze.

When asked whether it is necessary for the country to wait another 4 years before starting negotiations, Irakli Kobakhidze noted that this depends on the European Union.

"We have clearly stated that if the EU makes this decision, we are ready for it. Improving relations with the EU is in our interest. Let’s wait and see what approach the EU will choose," said Irakli Kobakhidze.
