Giorgi Vashadze: In every normal country, the ruling Government is responsible for a tragedy caused by systemic negligence

"In every normal country, the ruling government is responsible for a tragedy caused by systemic negligence. I demand that this self-proclaimed regime publicly acknowledge its responsibility—not with words, but with actions!" wrote Giorgi Vashadze, leader of Strategy Agmashenebeli, on social media.

According to him, full monitoring of construction sites must take place, those responsible must be identified, and safety regulations must be enforced to prevent similar incidents from happening again.

Vashadze emphasized that the "self-proclaimed government" must take responsibility at least once.

"The tragic deaths of two children in Batumi are the result of complete disregard for safety and systemic irresponsibility.

When a child died at Rike, did anyone take it as a lesson? Unfortunately, no. The tragedy at Vake Park? Again, no!

What are the supervisory bodies doing? Why are safety regulations being systematically violated, and why do these tragedies keep repeating?

I directly ask Irakli Kobakhidze, the prime minister of this self-proclaimed regime:

Just a few days ago, you were in Batumi, in the so-called 'Dream City,' making promises and assuring people of a happy future.

And today? Where are you now, when a tragedy has unfolded in that very place?

Instead of focusing on protecting the construction of your false promises, you should have ensured safety—this tragedy could have been prevented!

But for you, money, contracts, and brushing past yet another tragedy are all that matter.

In this country, human life means nothing to you!

I demand that the self-proclaimed regime publicly acknowledge its responsibility—not with words, but with actions!

Comprehensive monitoring of construction sites must take place, and those responsible must be identified.

Basic safety norms must be enforced to prevent such tragedies from happening again.

Children’s lives are not statistics!

Yesterday it was Rike, today it is Batumi—this must stop!

And when we say we want Europe and development, we mean that, above all, every citizen of this country must be protected!

There is no greater tragedy than the death of children. I extend my deepest condolences to the families and share in their immense pain!" wrote Giorgi Vashadze.
