Georgia’s fifth President, Salome Zurabishvili, stated that Russia has turned Georgia into a testing ground for its hybrid strategy. She made this remark while speaking to the media.
According to Zurabishvili, at this stage, elections should not be held in Ukraine.
"Russia has turned our country into a testing ground for its hybrid strategy. It is not using this method only against Georgia; it is also employing it in Romania and Moldova. Tomorrow, it may use it elsewhere. And when we talk about elections in Ukraine, this is precisely the path Russia will take to try to subjugate Ukraine, as it has failed to win the war and is not confident in the success of peace negotiations. So, be cautious about elections. Prepare for them, but at this stage, it is not the time for elections in Ukraine!" she added.
Furthermore, Zurabishvili emphasized that Russia’s hybrid strategy poses a threat and is a shared problem.
"If this is not countered in Georgia, it will spread elsewhere through the Black Sea. Germany also clearly sees that the hybrid strategy poses a threat there as well. So, we are a common target and share a common problem," Zurabishvili noted.
She also commented on the ongoing protests in Tbilisi.
"There are daily protests in the streets – the will of the people is for new elections to be held. And when we reach the point of elections, our demand for new elections must be supported. We must be backed as the legitimate side of the country because legitimacy cannot exist without the people," Zurabishvili stated.
