It is in Mr. Gakharia’s interest to blame this on the Georgian Dream – this has never been our handwriting, unlike the collective National Movement, - Levan Machavariani, a member of the Georgian Dream party, said in response to the incident at the airport, when eggs were thrown at the leader of the Gakharia for Georgia party, Giorgi Gakharia.
According to him, Georgian Dream has more than 1.12 million voters, of which there must be a lot of people dissatisfied with Giorgi Gakharia, and someone may have expressed their dissatisfaction in this way.
“It is in Mr. Gakharia’s interest to blame this on the Georgian Dream – this has never been our handwriting, unlike the collective National Movement, when activists with their phones turned on, supposedly enthusiastic citizens, go to the deputies and then it turns out that this enthusiastic citizen is somehow either a member of some radical opposition party or an employee of some NGO. We have more than 1.12 million voters, therefore, of course, many of them will be dissatisfied with the steps of Mr. Gakharia, as well as with the steps of the rest of the opposition. Someone may express their dissatisfaction in one way, someone in another, but we, of course, call on everyone to refrain from even such actions,” Machavariani said.
For information, the Gakharia For Georgia party issued a statement stating that upon returning from the Munich conference, Giorgi Gakharia and Elguja Khokrishvili were met at the airport by a group of people pre-organized by Ivanishvili, who were assisted by the police with absolute inaction. The party explained that there had been verbal abuse, but later footage was released showing Giorgi Gakharia being thrown eggs.
