"What is she surprised about now, I don’t get it – didn't we say it would be hard for her to move around because Georgian society would hold her accountable?! What does she think now?!"
This was stated by Guram Macharashvili, a deputy of the "People's Power" party, responding to media reports that eggs were thrown at the fifth president of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, at the airport.
According to him, "violence is always unacceptable, but whatever the reaction of Georgian society is, it is what it is."
Macharashvili stated that Salome Zurabishvili was "pulled out of the swamp by the 'Georgian Dream,' and if it weren’t for their support, no one would have elected her as a village mayor."
"I don’t understand why Zurabishvili is surprised now. A person who was pulled out of the swamp by the 'Georgian Dream' and then told not to betray her country—there's no discussion about politics anymore. Yes, yes. No one would have elected Zurabishvili as a village mayor if it weren’t for our support. Everyone knows this well. Before that, she would have been elected if she had been a candidate, but let’s leave that aside; she might have a different political view than, for example, the 'Georgian Dream.' What is Zurabishvili surprised about? When she went out and insulted thousands of Georgian citizens who came to her administration, betrayed her country, Georgia, went abroad and said that Georgia doesn’t deserve candidate status. She said there are black holes in Georgia, and she said she’s half-Georgian and half-European. She came to the Georgian parliament, mocked parliament members and Georgian society, and now what is she surprised about, I don’t get it?! Didn’t we say it would be hard for her to move around because Georgian society would hold her accountable? What does she think now? Of course, violence is always unacceptable, but whatever the reaction of Georgian society is, it is what it is," Macharashvili stated.
For reference, according to information from TV "Pirveli," eggs were thrown at the fifth president of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, at the airport.
