The European Union is increasingly resembling the Soviet Union – European bureaucracy is as dangerous for Europe as the United National Movement is for Georgia; neither has anything to do with democracy, said Dimitri Khundadze, a member of the People’s Power party, during his speech at the parliamentary plenary session.
According to him, fortunately, both European bureaucracy and the United National Movement are weakening day by day and losing their influence.
"What we have been saying here is now being said there, in the United States, where previously only attacks were coming from, and that too on a daily basis. The EU has recently started to resemble the Soviet Union, which is dangerous not only for Georgia but for Europe as well. European bureaucracy is as dangerous for Europe as the United National Movement is for Georgia. Neither has any connection to democracy, but fortunately, both are weakening every day, losing their influence and their agents. This is how Salome Zurabishvili ended as well. At least this time, Georgian Dream made the right choice by selecting Mikheil Kavelashvili as their presidential candidate, who was found as an irreplaceable option within People’s Power. He was one of the first to have the courage to speak the truth out loud. Our team will help the parliamentary investigative commission establish the truth – there will be plenty of it, including hidden truths that the public will see for themselves," said Khundadze.
He also noted that time has proven that People’s Power saw everything correctly and accurately assessed the threats.
"We are in opposition not because Georgian Dream deserves only criticism – though sometimes it does – but because the ruling party needs healthy opposition, which is sometimes necessary and even essential. Time has shown that People’s Power saw everything correctly, felt the threats accurately, and rightly decided to tell more truth to the people. After February 2022, our country found itself in a difficult and life-threatening situation. Ukraine became a battleground for resolving relations between the West and Russia. In this battle, Georgia was also assigned a heavy role, and the Georgian public was subtly presented with the so-called 'Ukrainization' – declared heroic – as the only best prospect. It became necessary to expose this life-threatening hidden path to prevent the country from falling for shiny bait – whether it was premature EU membership, NATO membership, the return of occupied territories, or billions in aid. Unfortunately, Ukraine fell for these promises. Despite their unconditional participation in a bloody war, they have neither become members of the EU nor NATO. The assistance they have received so far has now been counted as debt, and they have been asked to lower the conscription age to 18. They lost territories and lost people. Ukraine made an irreversible mistake. Avoiding such risks was only possible by telling more truth, and that is precisely why People’s Power was created," Khundadze stated.
