Petras Auštrevičius on assoults on Zurabishvili and Gakharia: If there is any evidence that the ruling coalition is behind these crimes, I think the European Union should react very seriously

If there is any evidence that the ruling coalition is behind these crimes, I think the European Union should react very seriously, - Lithuanian MEP Petras Auštrevičius told the special correspondent of InterpressNews in Brussels.

Commenting on the throwing of eggs at the 5th President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, and one of the leaders of the opposition, Giorgi Gakharia, the MEP said that the situation is getting more and more out of control.

“This is very sad. I cannot believe what I see and hear about such criminal attacks on opposition and political figures in Georgia. I think this situation is getting more and more out of control. If there is any evidence that the ruling coalition is behind these crimes, I think the European Union should react very seriously and deprive them of all their privileges. This is very disturbing. It is an absolutely uncivilized path and this situation is leading Georgia almost to a civil war. Therefore, the authorities should control and take better care of people respected in the West,” said Austrevicius.
