Irakli Kobakhidze: We want to renew the strategic partnership with the US with a specific roadmap - this is an open offer of the Georgian government to the US authorities

We want not only to reset relations with the US, but more than that, we want to renew the strategic partnership with a specific roadmap, - Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.

According to the head of government, this is an open offer of the Georgian government to the US authorities.

“We have a desire to reset relations with the US and we have made a number of statements about this. We want not only to reset relations, but more than that, we want to renew the strategic partnership with a specific roadmap. This is our open offer to the US authorities. We understand that the Trump administration has a lot of work to do today, there are internal affairs to be resolved, there is the issue of ending the war, which is what the Trump administration is busy with. Therefore, there may not be enough time for Georgia at this stage, but I think that at a certain stage the time will definitely come when the Trump administration will take a serious interest in Georgian-American relations, and this should become a prerequisite for resetting relations between Georgia and the US. Also, a lot will depend on the defeat of the "Deep State". If Trump is able to defeat the "Deep State", relations between Georgia and the US will be reset", - said the Prime Minister.

In addition, Irakli Kobakhidze also spoke about the European Union and stated that "the European Union has many problems, including a severe economic recession".

"You know that there is a crisis situation, today there are severe trends in the European Union in terms of economic recession, perhaps the highest representatives of the European Union should concentrate more on this. It is better for the highest officials of the European Union to concentrate on solving their own problems", - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
