I think that Brussels should have more to think about today than discussing those false narratives, - the Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, told journalists.
As Papuashvili noted, nothing should be above national interests, because when you need it, it may turn out that your partners have nothing but a "post" written on a social network.
"We see what is happening in Ukraine. We see how weak the governments, which have been inciting Ukraine until now, saying: "We are with you until the end," have turned out to be, and how they are with Ukraine to the end. Has it become clear now?! Therefore, I would like one thing: instead of spreading false narratives against Georgia and the Georgian people and discussing them, denying democracy and the will of the people, they would better deal with the issue that is actually their concern. All the capitals of the European Union are in debt to the Ukrainian people. This debt must be paid, and not so that they can hide and discuss some issues now,” Papuashvili said.
According to the Chairman of the Parliament, “there are talks about peace negotiations, and the representatives of the capitals of the European Union have not found their place.”
“It turned out that the only thing they were good at was inciting others to take action, and when it came down to it, it turned out that they cannot stand up for themselves. Let me remind you that the same people were inciting us to escalate relations with Russia. This was happening behind closed doors and with calls, and then all this was reflected in the European Parliament resolution. If it had happened, what would we have, a statement on Twitter, as the highest representative of the European Union Ministry of Foreign Affairs did? ", - Papuashvili said.
According to the Speaker of Parliament, this is exactly what they were explaining to their partners, that they should have approached this issue more responsibly.
"Those people are either no longer in office, or are observing these events from a warm room. It turned out that the only thing they can do is to encourage societies or governments through social networks. I think this should make every member of our society think that you should not put anything above your national interest. No one's interest, no one's sweet words should be above national interests, because when you need it, it turns out that you have nothing but a post written on the social network. As it turned out, everything was a loan. Aid, applause and red carpets, a large part of all this was a loan, which the people who have survived the war will now have to pay back," - Papuashvili said.
