By the decision of the Georgian government, members of the national basketball team are nominated for the Order of Honor, while basketball players Tornike Shengelia and Giorgi Shermadini are nominated for the Order of Excellence, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced during the government session.

"Our basketball players have made us proud by securing the 'EuroBasket' qualification for the sixth consecutive time. It is important to appropriately recognize this achievement. Based on consultations with the President of Georgia, we made the decision to nominate our basketball players and team members for the highest state awards. Members of our national basketball team, the leadership of the federation, and first and foremost the basketball players will be nominated for the Order of Honor. We have distinguished two basketball players, Tornike Shengelia and Giorgi Shermadini, who have special achievements, and they will be nominated for the Order of Excellence. I would like to congratulate each of them on this award. Their decoration will take place in the near future," said Irakli Kobakhidze.
