Salome Samadashvili: It doesn't matter what Georgian Dream calls these legislative changes—They are all Russian in their essence

"This illegitimate body is one-party. We see that it is desperately and hastily drafting and passing laws to completely destroy free space in Georgia, but it has no chance of achieving any real outcome," said Strong Georgia leader Salome Samadashvili in response to the legislative changes announced by Georgian Dream.

The discussion revolves around the Media Law, the verbatim translation and adaptation of FARA into Georgian legislation, and proposed amendments to the Criminal Code, including the addition of a clause on treason. According to Samadashvili, it does not matter what Georgian Dream calls these changes—every one of them is Russian in nature.

"First and foremost, no law passed by this illegitimate parliament, which lacks any international recognition, can have legal force. Every law they approve is illegitimate by its essence.

This illegitimate body is a one-party entity. We see that it is desperately and hastily drafting and adopting laws to eliminate free space in Georgia once and for all, but this will lead to nothing. The public is firmly stating that it chooses a free and European future for this country.

So, whether they call it an 'American law,' a 'British law,' or something else, it makes no difference. Every one of these laws, by its essence and purpose, is a Russian law—a set of instructions written in Russia, which today, the Russian occupation regime is implementing in our country," stated Samadashvili.
