The only country that can end this war so that Ukraine has sustainable peace and appropriate security guarantees is the United States of America! - the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, told journalists.
According to him, European leaders incited Ukraine and promised victory in the war, however, now they have to beg for a place at the negotiating table.
“The reason why we support the policy of the new US administration is that what we were talking about 3 years ago, today more and more countries and political groups are talking about it, and first of all, the new US administration itself is talking about it. The only country that can end this war is the United States of America. We have seen many European leaders who were inciting Ukraine, promising Ukraine that they would win this war. Where are they now?! Where are these European leaders who promised Ukraine that it would win this war?! Where are they?! They are demanding a place at the negotiating table. The only country that can end this war so that Ukraine has sustainable peace and appropriate security guarantees is the United States of America. No one else,” Papuashvili said.
The Speaker of the Parliament says that the Russian-Ukrainian war could have been avoided.
According to him, Georgia knows very well how such wars begin and end, and that is why the Georgian people did not allow us to have a new war in 2022.
“We learned a lesson, including in 2008. We saw very well how such wars begin, we saw what their content is, how they continue, and we also saw how they end. 8 months had passed since the 2008 war when the United States Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, handed the red reset button to the Russian Foreign Minister. A year and a half had passed since our war when, on May 9, 2010, on Red Square, the armed forces of the United States, Great Britain, France, Poland, and Ukraine, were parading to the Russian President. Therefore, we know very well how such wars begin and we also know how they end. We learned this lesson in 2008. That is why the Georgian people, having learned from this lesson, did not allow the same thing to happen again in Georgia in 2022,” Papuashvili said.
