Once again, we see that "Georgian Dream" needs casualties to realize that the problem is severe and to start chaotic actions – their response is always like a trailing lantern," said Ana Natsvlishvili, one of the leaders of the "Strong Georgia" coalition, during an interview on Palitra News' program "Day’s Newsroom," discussing the problems caused by heavy snowfall in western Georgia.
Natsvlishvili described the actions of "Georgian Dream" as "criminal negligence."
"As for the state's response, once again, we are witnessing criminal negligence, just as we saw in Shovi and other cases. The fact that we do not recognize this government and consider it illegitimate, violent, and corrupt is one thing, but it has also become clear that they do not recognize themselves either. They do not see themselves as a government because they never take responsibility for anything. Once again, we see that they need casualties to notice the severity of the problem and start chaotic movements. How many times have we witnessed this?! The creation of a crisis headquarters and the discussions we hear now only began after we learned that people had already died, and society raised a serious alarm. Volunteers mobilized, civil groups organized. Great thanks to the media. If not for the media and a few individuals sounding the alarm, 'Georgian Dream' would still have done nothing. Yesterday morning, the self-proclaimed Speaker of the self-proclaimed Parliament was saying, 'It's just snow, so what?' Kobakhidze did not even consider the issue worthy of comment. But just a few hours later, when society did not remain silent, and the reality became too severe to ignore, they had to involve the army," said Ana Natsvlishvili.
Additionally, Natsvlishvili identified three main reasons for the current problems and the areas where "Georgian Dream" is failing. According to her, these are corruption, incompetence, and the fact that the ruling party's goal is not to help people but to engage in propaganda to prevent the public from learning the truth and becoming outraged.
Regarding "Georgian Dream's" claim that volunteers are obstructing rescue operations in disaster zones, Natsvlishvili called such statements shameful.
"It is unimaginable that, in this situation, instead of focusing on helping women, children, and the elderly—who have been left without warmth, food, or assistance for several days (which is the responsibility of Kobakhidze and his group)—[Kobakhidze] finds time to criticize the very people who, had they not mobilized, would have left him still in deep sleep today. This is disgraceful, and I have nothing more to say to him. There are many questions that neither Kobakhidze nor anyone else in the government can answer. We received warnings from emergency services (112) days ago that the situation could become critical. So why are they forming a crisis headquarters only now? Where have they been until now? People have been struggling for days. The first ones to raise the alarm should have been the local authorities, who should have involved the central government and assessed the risks adequately. Their number one priority should be prevention. Yet, after days of crisis, they are now creating a headquarters and drafting a plan. This would be laughable if it weren’t for the heavy price people are paying—some with their lives and others with their health. Their actions are always like a trailing lantern. Someone has to die for them to wake up," said Natsvlishvili.
Additionally, Ana Natsvlishvili spoke about "Georgian Dream's" initiative to translate the American "FARA" (Foreign Agents Registration Act) and stated that no matter how many laws they come up with, the fight for justice will not stop, as people know that a government should serve them, not rule over them.
"What they are doing now is a direct acknowledgment that their special operation regarding the 'Russian law' has failed. It failed in 2023, and it failed in 2024. No matter how much money and resources they spent trying to mask their Russian intentions with propaganda, they failed. Their new initiative is just another attempt, but it, too, is doomed to failure. The key issue is their goal. A law is just a means to an end, but their end goal is Russian. Can changing the method alter the Russian objective? No. Their goal is to silence the critical media—the very media outlets that sound the alarm about their criminal inaction and that, without them, would lead to even more casualties. They want to shut down organizations that provide legal assistance to people abandoned and crushed by the state. Their objective is clear. No matter how much propaganda they spread, their goal is already exposed. Their Russian agenda and nature have been revealed. People will continue to fight. Even if they physically destroy us, will the crimes and problems caused by 'Georgian Dream' disappear? No, they will only worsen. So, if we are gone, will others continue our fight? Yes, others will carry it forward," said Ana Natsvlishvili.
