Shalva Papuashvili: In Guria, access to many villages has already been restored, and cleanup operations are underway. The Prime Minister is on-site and personally leading the process. Meanwhile, the opposition and NGOs are trying to spread panic

"In Guria, access to many villages has already been restored, and cleanup operations are underway. Those in need, including for various primary needs, are being provided with assistance accordingly," said the Chairman of Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, to reporters.

He also noted that the Prime Minister is on-site and personally leading the process.

"As for the disaster, the public can see, including on the ground, that intensive cleanup operations are underway to remove the communication disruptions caused by heavy snowfall. The Prime Minister is on the ground in Guria. However, you know that other regions are also experiencing heavy snow, but not to the extent or severity seen in Guria. The Prime Minister is on-site and personally overseeing this process. The situation is complicated by the fact that the snowfall continues, and there is a need for renewed cleanup operations. Therefore, working in these conditions is difficult. You know that access has already been restored to many villages, and cleanup operations are continuing. Those in need, including for various primary needs, are being assisted accordingly. Firefighters, police units, and the Ministry of Defense are involved in this process, as well as doctors who are working intensively. The entire process is under control, and the necessary work is being carried out.

At the same time, once again, we have seen that whenever there is a need for unity in society and focus on the task at hand, we exactly see the opposition, its media, and NGOs stabbing the Georgian public in the back. By spreading clear false information, they are trying to spread panic, create confusion in society, and, in an already difficult emotional environment, further exacerbate and irritate the public. This does not meet any media or human standards. Even my comment yesterday was directly and speculatively distorted. The goal is clear—to use every such case for political purposes. Once again, I urge everyone that in such times, unity in society is crucial. However, we are used to this; this is not the first time that the opposition, its media, and NGOs have stabbed our society in the back. Instead of solidarity, empathy, and standing by people, we see them putting their foot down," said Shalva Papuashvili.
