Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Badra Gunba, the winner of the “presidential elections” of occupied Abkhazia, and congratulated him on his “victory.”
“I am glad to see you and I want to congratulate you, of course, on your victory in the elections: 54.7%, with a turnout of 70% – this is a good result. Congratulations,” Putin said.
Putin said he would issue an order to fully resolve the issues related to the granting of Russian citizenship to “Abkhazian citizens.”
According to Russian media, Putin said Moscow and occupied Abkhazia have “special relations.” He promised Gunba that Russia would help Abkhazia solve its electricity shortage problem by providing humanitarian supplies.
