Mamuka Khazaradze: The 'Anaklia Consortium,' which includes American and European investors, paid $600,000 for arbitration services, not Khazaradze - Why did 'Georgian Dream' feel the need to bring up this issue now when the payment was made last year?

The Anaklia Development Consortium, which includes American and European investors, paid $600,000 for international arbitration services, not Mamuka Khazaradze," wrote Mamuka Khazaradze, leader of "Lelo – Strong Georgia," on social media.

According to Khazaradze, "Georgian Dream" is spreading a "propaganda lie" regarding the Anaklia port.

He also questions why "Georgian Dream" decided to bring up this issue now when the payment was made last year.

Mamuka Khazaradze demands that "Georgian Dream" disclose "how many tens of millions of lari—taxpayer and budget funds—were spent on stopping Anaklia" and on legal services during the arbitration process.

"Another propaganda lie from 'Georgian Dream' surrounding the Anaklia project, which they themselves halted.

The Anaklia Development Consortium, which includes American and European investors, paid $600,000 for international arbitration services, not Mamuka Khazaradze.

Now 'Georgian Dream' should disclose how many tens of millions of lari—taxpayer and budget funds—they spent on stopping Anaklia and on legal services during the same arbitration process.

Let me put it simply:

  • The arbitration ruled that the government acted like bandits, and the other party knew this, so the responsibility lies with them for signing a contract with the Russian government.
  • If Anaklia had lost, the arbitration would have imposed millions in payments to the state (including legal service costs).
  • If this were a fine, it would have been paid to the state budget. If that's the case, let them present the relevant evidence.
  • This was a service fee, the same kind that every citizen pays in Georgian courts.

Let me remind you that Ivanishvili stopped the Anaklia project, which would have been ready to receive its first ship in 2020.

Additionally, 'Georgian Dream' confiscated over $80 million worth of American and European investments.

Now the question is: after seven years of halting Anaklia, why haven't they found an investor, and why hasn't the Anaklia port been built?

And finally, why did 'Georgian Dream' feel the need to bring up this issue now when the payment was made last year?" wrote Khazaradze.
