The verdict in the case of Mikheil Saakashvili and Temur Janashia, which concerns the embezzlement of a large amount of budgetary funds in a group, will be announced today

The verdict in the criminal case against the defendants accused of embezzling a large amount of budgetary funds in a group—former President Mikheil Saakashvili and the former head of the Special State Protection Service, Teimuraz Janashia—will be announced on March 12.

The hearing is scheduled for 10:00 AM at the Tbilisi City Court. At that time, Judge Badri Kochlamazashvili is expected to announce the decision. He withdrew for deliberation after the defendants gave their final statements.

Notably, this case, which the public knows as the so-called "Jackets Case", involves Teimuraz Janashia alongside Mikheil Saakashvili as a co-defendant.

Both defendants were charged under Article 182, Parts 2 and 3 of the Criminal Code, which concerns the misappropriation of a large amount of funds through abuse of official position by a group acting in prior agreement. The charges carry a sentence of 7 to 11 years in prison.
