According to him, all the statements that are heard from the opposition on this topic are only a basis for distorting the facts and telling false information to the public.

How hard it is to imagine that Saakashvili would cross the country so quietly and sneaked into Georgia so quietly if there had been no separate will from that country. But the main and important thing here is that his actions directly violated the state border of Georgia and the legality of crossing it, that is, the action provided for by the Criminal Code, and the court made the correct legal assessment of this. Accordingly, all the statements that are heard from the radical opposition on this topic are only a basis for distorting the facts and telling the public false information. This is an ordinary crime. What other goals did this issue have - why did he sneak in during the elections and for what purpose did he cross the state border illegally, this is another separate issue. The hands of "global forces" are involved here in order to cause unrest in our country, illegally change the government, influence the will of the Georgian people and subsequently get involved in the global processes that were manifested by the start of the war in Ukraine. Georgia should have played the role that the party of the global war wanted - to get involved in the war," Matikashvili said.

The court found the third president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, guilty of illegally crossing the state border. By the decision of Tbilisi City Court Judge Mikheil Jinjolia, Saakashvili was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison. However, he was also sentenced to 8 years for embezzlement of budget funds, and in total, he was sentenced to 12 years and 6 months in prison.
