We have a firm expectation that Georgia-US relations will not only return to the framework of a strategic partnership but that this framework will also be enriched with a concrete agenda.
This is precisely the proposal we have made to our American partners—to establish a specific agenda outlining the goals to be achieved within set timeframes, said Irakli Kadagishvili, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Regional Policy and Self-Government, in a statement to journalists.
The ruling party MP believes that interstate relations will be approached with greater responsibility from all sides and that "nothing will stand in the way of this process."
"You are aware of the government's declared policy that the United States, as our country’s main strategic partner, is of utmost importance to Georgia. The negative atmosphere created during the previous administration had specific reasons. Today, those reasons no longer exist. The new administration shares identical positions on many issues, both ideologically and concerning ongoing global geopolitical processes.
Therefore, we have a firm expectation that under the new administration, Georgia-US relations will not only return to the framework of a strategic partnership but will also be enriched with a concrete agenda. This is precisely our proposal to our American partners—to have a specific agenda with clearly defined goals and timelines. I believe this is now more realistic. I also think that interstate relations will be perceived with greater responsibility from all sides, and nothing will hinder this process," Kadagishvili stated.
