Salome Zurabishvili: The new wave of arrests is reaching a new level of absurdity

"The new wave of arrests is reaching a new level of absurdity," – wrote Georgia's fifth president, Salome Zurabishvili, on the social platform X.

With this statement, Zurabishvili is responding to the arrest of students during yesterday's protest.

"Terror in Georgia, new wave of arrests reaching new heights in absurdity: student girls detained for bringing chairs to the protests, while another student is arrested just for applauding! Kafka in Tbilissi!!" – wrote Salome Zurabishvili.

For reference, yesterday, law enforcement officers detained three people in front of the Parliament. Later, two of them were released based on a written statement, while the third person remains in custody.

As the Ministry of Internal Affairs told "InterpressNews," all three individuals were administratively detained under Article 173, which refers to disobedience to a lawful order of a police officer.

According to available information, the detained individuals were attempting to place small chairs on the steps in front of the Parliament, which law enforcement prevented. Additionally, one person was reportedly arrested for clapping.
