A group of citizens has set off from the city of Dmanisi in connection with the protest announced for March 31 on Rustaveli Avenue.
Over three days, the protesters will walk 100 kilometers and arrive at the demonstration organized by Georgia's 5th President, Salome Zurabishvili, and opposition parties on March 31.
One of the participants stated that their goal is to show the government their strength and to make their voices heard in the regions, emphasizing that the nationwide protest is still ongoing.
"We set off from Dmanisi and will arrive at the rally on Rustaveli Avenue on March 31. This protest is in defense of Georgia's independence. By walking these 100 kilometers, we want to demonstrate our strength to the authorities—we will see this fight through to the end.
We have already covered 20-22 kilometers, having passed Dmanisi Municipality. In the evening, we will camp in Bolnisi, where we will hold a rally in front of the City Hall and call on citizens to join us. In the morning, we will head toward Marneuli and hold another rally in front of the City Hall there as well.
It is crucial that the voice of protest is heard in the regions. Due to propaganda media, some people believe that the protest has stopped. Through our actions, we will at least ensure that along this 100-kilometer route, we make it clear at every house that we are demanding the release of unlawfully detained political prisoners and fair new elections.
Others will join us along the way, walking this path and taking these historic steps with us," said one of the protesters.
The participants will walk 100 kilometers to demand the release of political prisoners and new parliamentary elections.
For reference, on March 31, Georgia’s 5th president and opposition parties have announced a large-scale protest on Rustaveli Avenue, which various civil groups are also joining.
