The executive secretary of the Georgian Dream, the majority leader, Mamuka Mdinaradze, promises that “no pressure, no instructions from outside, no baseless criticism, no punitive mechanisms” will prevent the Georgian Dream from protecting and strengthening Georgia’s sovereignty.
According to Mdinaradze, Georgia has achieved a level of independence it has never had before, and his team is proud that it has firmly rejected “instructions imposed from the outside and governing the country at the behest of others.”
“Today marks 34 years since one of the most important days in Georgia’s recent history – on March 31, 1991, in a referendum held throughout the entire territory of Georgia, including the currently occupied regions, the Georgian people unanimously supported the restoration of state independence!
This very date became the first step on the path to fulfilling our nation’s long-standing dream – the Georgian people decided to build a free and sovereign state on their own, without any external instructions. Accordingly, March 31, 1991 became the beginning of a long and difficult path full of challenges that will inevitably lead our country and people to a strong, fully independent, and brilliant Georgia.
March 31 is the birthday of the first President of Georgia, Zviad Gamsakhurdia. From the emergence of the idea to the declaration of independence, this man fought tirelessly and made a major contribution to this national movement!
This day has become a symbol of Georgians standing together, dignity and victory! That is why this day should remind us all that the independence gained as a result of the struggle of generations needs to be protected, cared for and, most importantly, strengthened, which is the duty of every Georgian before their homeland,” Mdinaradze said.
In addition, Mamuka Mdinaradze responded to the decision of the Prime Minister of Georgia to create a Department of Government Performance.
According to him, this is one of the most important decisions of recent times, which will allow the newly created department to monitor the effectiveness of the implementation of decisions by ministries, various branches of the executive branch and state agencies.
“Today we also had a discussion on this topic with our teammates in the majority format, and you will not be surprised if we say that this decision of the Prime Minister has full support from the team," said Mdinaradze.
