"Elene Khoshtaria is not needed by anyone – torture was their signature when they were in power; they tortured, killed, and ruined lives," said Kakha Kaladze, Secretary-General of Georgian Dream, in response to Elene Khoshtaria's claims of mistreatment following her arrest.
According to Kaladze, Georgian Dream does not engage in torture.
"This is complete nonsense. Elene Khoshtaria is not needed by anyone, nor is torture. Torture was their signature when they were in power. They tortured, killed, and ruined lives. These were specific, real facts—there are actual people and footage showing how they tortured individuals.
This is purely fabricated and a political manipulation. I repeat, these are just political speculations. We have been in power for so many years, and never has anyone been tortured. This is not Georgian Dream's signature. Once again, those who tortured, killed, and ruined lives were precisely this radical group that was in power at the time. Today, they may operate under different names, but back then, they were united under the United National Movement—and this was their signature.
Despite different opinions and political views, we act strictly within the framework of the law and the constitution," Kaladze stated.
