At the second meeting of the Resistance Platform, we stated the coordination position that none of the political parties included in it will participate in the work of the so-called temporary investigative commission, - the fifth President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, stated at the briefing.
According to Zurabishvili, the investigative commission “is completely illegitimate since it is created by an illegitimate parliament, and it serves Russian interests”.
“The second meeting of the new coordination, the Resistance Platform, has been held. I will repeat what has already been said, but people need to understand better. This is a platform that is open to all pro-European parties or those that will be created in the near future; that share our main priorities, which are one - new elections and not any other demands, and the second - the release of prisoners of conscience. As pro-European parties, they also share the Georgian Charter. These are the three conditions that create and pave the way for parties to enter this platform.
The coordination today discussed one topical issue, which is the activities of the so-called investigative commission and the summoning of people to it. We have stated the coordination's position that none of the political parties included here will participate in this commission. On the one hand, this commission is completely illegitimate, as it was created by an illegitimate parliament. On the other hand, this commission serves only and exclusively Russian interests. There is no basis for anyone to participate. This commission serves to sow fear. Now political leaders are being directly targeted, so that the idea that "we will reach everyone and you are all targets" is spread among people. This does not mean that anyone should be subjected to this and spread fear, "- said Salome Zurabishvili.
