Shalva Papuashvili: We initiated new Rules of Procedures of the Parliament of Georgia - the number of interpellations of various accountable persons will double - and therefore, the Minister's Hour will lose its purpose

The parliamentary majority has initiated new Rules of Procedures of the Parliament of Georgia - with the new draft, the number of interpellations of various accountable persons will double - and therefore, the Minister's Hour will lose its purpose, - said the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili.

As Papuashvili noted, the draft will be submitted to the Bureau for consideration on Monday.

According to him, the new regulations will "resolve all ambiguities in procedures, etc."

“The parliamentary majority initiated new Rules of Procedures of the Parliament of Georgia. For two years now, together with the Committee on Procedural Issues in the Parliament and the relevant departments of the Parliament, we have been developing new regulations. Work has been ongoing for 2 years. As you know, the current Rules of Procedures were adopted in 2018. They have been in force for almost 7 years now. Therefore, a study was conducted to determine what the shortcomings are, what practice has shown us. 65 different amendments have been made to the Rules of Procedures. Therefore, it was necessary to create the Rules of Procedures themselves as a new structure in order to exclude duplications. Also, to structure them in a logical sequence,” Papuashvili noted.

According to Papuashvili, the new Rules of Procedures are scheduled to be adopted by the end of May, and will enter into force on July 1.
