Irakli Kupradze: The political persecution against the leaders of "Strong Georgia" continues, but no matter how events unfold, we will continue the fight against Ivanishvili's Russian regime

The political persecution against the leaders of “Strong Georgia” continues, but no matter how events unfold, we will continue the fight against Ivanishvili’s Russian regime – this statement was made by Irakli Kupradze, Secretary General of the “Strong Georgia” coalition.

According to him, the honorary chairman of “Georgian Dream,” Bidzina Ivanishvili, has established a police authoritarian regime in the country.

“The political persecution against the leaders of ‘Strong Georgia’ continues. However, no matter how events develop, we will continue the fight against Ivanishvili’s Russian regime. He has created a police authoritarian system. Badri Japaridze has been issued a bail of 50,000 GEL, but this does not scare or hinder us. In the coming weeks, we expect court hearings, and once again, we are exposing ‘Georgian Dream.’ We will also continue informing our Western partners about the illegality happening in the Chinchaladze-Murusidze court system. Whatever decision Bidzina Ivanishvili makes will be enforced by the Prosecutor’s Office and the judicial clan,” said Irakli Kupradze.

For context, Badri Japaridze was summoned on March 25 to provide an explanation before the temporary investigative commission of the Parliament of Georgia, but he did not appear. Afterward, Japaridze gave testimony before a magistrate judge. Following the questioning, he was charged under Article 349 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which refers to "failure to comply with the request of the Parliament’s temporary investigative commission." This offense is punishable by a fine or imprisonment for up to one year, along with the possible revocation of the right to hold office or engage in certain activities for up to three years.

The Tbilisi City Court imposed a bail of 50,000 GEL on Japaridze as a preventive measure.
