Tina Bokuchava, Chairperson of the “United National Movement,” believes that the upcoming resolution of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will likely repeat the “harsh wording adopted during the January session, when members of Ivanishvili’s regime were denied participation in the Assembly’s work.”
According to her, members of the Monitoring Committee are currently working on a resolution that calls for new, fair parliamentary elections in Georgia and the release of all political prisoners.
“Members of the Monitoring Committee have been working yesterday and today on a resolution that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will adopt tomorrow, following emergency debates on Georgia. Most likely, the resolution will repeat the very harsh wording we saw in the January session, when members of Ivanishvili’s regime were denied the opportunity to participate in the Assembly’s work until free and fair parliamentary elections are held in Georgia and all political prisoners are released. Most likely, the same demands will remain in force, which means that Tsulukiani and others—servants of Ivanishvili’s regime—could, even theoretically, only return to the Assembly in the capacity of the opposition. That’s because fair new parliamentary elections would result in the defeat of their regime and return Georgia to the path of European development,” said Tina Bokuchava.
Tina Bokuchava’s statement was released by the party’s press office.
