Irakli Kobakhidze: Modern legal principles were developed in England, and in a country with such traditions, people are being subjected to measures equivalent to criminal sanctions without any evidence or factual basis

"Today, in a country with such traditions, people are being subjected to measures equivalent to criminal sanctions without any evidence or factual basis," – this is how Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze evaluates the sanctioning of four Georgian officials by the United Kingdom.

Kobakhidze describes the British sanctions as a tragic event.

"This is an unprecedented event. This is the country of John Locke and other great thinkers. Modern legal principles were developed in England, and today, in a country with such traditions, people are being subjected to measures equivalent to criminal sanctions without any evidence or factual basis. This is a tragic event—tragic given the history that Britain has gone through. All we can do is express sorrow over all of this," Kobakhidze stated.
