Irakli Kobakhidze: Sanctions are a modernized form of kulaks - we have difficulties with PACE, where those well-known decisions were made, and with the Venice Commission, which does not respect legal principles at all

Cooperation with the Council of Europe is important for us and it must be said that we actively use all formats - we have difficulties with PACE, where those well-known decisions were made, and with the Venice Commission, which does not respect legal principles at all, - the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, said regarding the meeting with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset.

According to him, Georgia is ready for any type of dialogue related to the democratic development of Georgia.

“Of course, cooperation with the Council of Europe is important for us, and it must be said that we are actively using all formats to deepen cooperation between the Council of Europe and Georgia. We mainly have difficulties with PACE, where those well-known decisions were made, and with the Venice Commission, which does not respect legal principles at all. We are actively cooperating in all other areas, including the contribution of the European Court of Human Rights to the development of our democracy is important.

As for the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, his role is of paramount importance. I thanked him for his interest and contribution, as well as for the visit that took place at the end of last year, after the parliamentary elections. I once again confirmed to him that we are ready for dialogue on all topics. It is important to jointly discuss all issues related to the democratic development of Georgia, we are open to any type of dialogue,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.

He also responded to the statements of opposition politicians, noting that they are foreign agents who act on instructions against the interests of Georgia and the country.

"This is a hostile attitude towards our country and interests, there is no other explanation for this. A century ago, ethnic Georgians opposed Georgia and its national interests in this way. Ethnic Georgians committed an encroachment on our independence and sovereignty. Now these people are continuing this work - the work of Sergo Ordzhonikidze, they are "modern Bolsheviks", so it is not surprising that their methods resemble the methods of the Bolsheviks, sanctions are a modernized form of kulaks, this is also the handwriting that was first made by the "Bolsheviks", then by the "fascists" and now by representatives of our radical opposition. The methods and attitude of the opposition are the same, they are foreign agents, so they are acting on orders against the national interests of Georgia", - said Irakli Kobakhidze.

Michał Kobosko - we hope that your government eventually would either choose the European way, the democratic way or would resign seeing the number, the size and scale of the citizens' protests
