According to Giorgi Gakharia's testimony, it was confirmed that he, as the Prime Minister of this country, was not acting on the mandate granted by the Parliament of Georgia, but rather secretly, under the instructions of a representative of a foreign country, with coordination down to the minute — writes the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, on social media in response to the statements made by the leader of the “Gakharia For Georgia” party, Giorgi Gakharia, before the temporary parliamentary investigative commission.

As Papuashvili writes, “Yesterday, while testifying, Giorgi Gakharia got tangled up in his own lies on many issues.”

“Particularly noteworthy is the question regarding foreign interference in the issue of Melia’s arrest or non-arrest, and his confusion about it.

After trying to dodge the question several times, first he couldn’t recall whether he had met with any ambassador;

Then he remembered he had met someone, but couldn’t recall what the topic was;

Then he remembered it was about the Melia case, and said, ‘They told me he should be arrested, so I had him arrested.’ (Who would believe this final lie? But the fact that he dragged the former ambassador into a new scandal with this lie is another matter altogether.)

It was truly a pitiful sight – a former Prime Minister lying three times about the same issue within just a few minutes.

And why was he so nervous about this seemingly simple question and trying to avoid answering it?

When he talks about an invisible man, in reality, everyone now clearly understands who was trying to meddle invisibly in Georgian politics, justice, and our society’s life in general. We have exposed this, as has the new U.S. administration.

Despite numerous attempts to avoid the answer, Giorgi Gakharia's testimony confirmed that, as Prime Minister, he acted not on the mandate granted by the Georgian Parliament, but secretly, under the instructions of a foreign country’s representative, with minute-by-minute coordination.

The archive preserves this history of coordinated actions very well:

On February 18 at 10:01 a.m., right at the start of the workday, the former U.S. ambassador made a public statement urging the government to engage in dialogue with criminals and refrain from making arrests.

27 minutes after that statement, at 10:28 a.m., Giorgi Gakharia announced his resignation.

Three months after this betrayal, a party was formed.

Four months later — he was spotted at the same hotel in Washington as Saakashvili.

Seven months later — Saakashvili was smuggled in before the elections,” writes Papuashvili.
